About

novice is a Claude Code plugin for non-developers who are starting to build with Claude. Instead of hiding jargon, it keeps the real development terms and explains them inline at one of three levels, so the learner picks up the vocabulary while working. A separate focus switch reshapes answers into action-first numbered steps. A safety gate stays active while the plugin is enabled, independent of the teaching level: it blocks catastrophic local commands and secret values being exposed. The README is explicit about what it does not guarantee — complex wrappers, obfuscation and piped or chained commands fall back to Claude Code's native permission prompts. It also guides setup of external service CLIs, leaving resource creation, secret input and deployment to the user. The README lists the MVP as implemented with 160 passing tests; beta validation with human participants is still pending.
